It’s National Crochet Month…Rejoice!
Whether you like the quick work of a Q hook or enjoy the subtlety of a US-14 steel hook, it’s time to pull them out and put them to work making your own crocheted flag you can proudly fly! It’s National Crochet Month…Rejoice! WOOHOO!
It’s March, and that means it’s National Crochet Month; it’s time to expound upon all things crochet, pass along our favorite tips and tricks, and, of course, give away some great goodies from our sponsors. This year we get to do everything on TWO blogs… right here on Shibaguyz Designz AND on our publisher's site, the Lark Craft blog. To say we are excited about it is a bit of an understatement; [pulls out the thesaurus] enraptured, jubilant, agog, or maybe ebullient… yeah, those are the words we’re looking for.
In the coming weeks you can expect to see posts all about our favorite patterns from our latest books, Crochet Geometry and Designer Crochet
We'll have history and backgrounds on our favorites designs including never before seen photos of some of our favorite crocheted garments from our books.
And of course there will be some really FAB giveaways! Our studio sponsors are joining in the fun and have provided some really FAB prizes that we will be giving away to lucky visitors to our blog. Lark Crafts, Cascade Yarn, Ottlite, Furls Crochet, Eucalan, and Lion Brand Yarn are all on board, but we can't tell you what they are giving us... YET
You'll have to come back each week to see what the prize is for that week and how to enter, then check back for post updates and of course to see if you are the winner.
Winners will be announced each week this month. Are you excited yet?
"Years and years as a freelancer and then as an editor gave me ideas as to what pattern production could and should be…" - Michele Maks, executive editor, mainly crochet
Take an industry-savvy professional with a reputation for being delightfully impish, put her in the wilds of Maine with a desire to create something new and important in the fiber industry, and you might just get something really FAB like the new Mainly Crochet by Michele Maks.
Come along and listen in while we chat with Michele and discover just exactly what this creation of hers is all about.
We here at Shibaguyz Designz love sharing new designs with you and today we are very pleased to announce the re-release of our crochet pattern: the Filigree Leaf Tunic.
You might recognize this design from the first life it lived in a UK magazine back in 2011. Since then, the publishing rights to the pattern have reverted to us, we've made some spiffy patterning changes, added a chart, sized the pattern for Small–5X, and now we're re-releasing this beauty into the wilds of the internet for you all to download and enjoy for yourselves!
The Filigree Leaf Tunic has been a favorite of ours for years. The easy fit and versatility of this tunic makes it a FAB piece for any body type and just about any occasion.
We've made versions of this design for clients who wore them as wedding dresses, holiday party cocktail dresses, and even beach cover-ups. However, the most popular use for this light and lacy piece is just as a comfortable top to throw over jeans and a tee or tank. Add a belt for a little flattering shaping and you're all set!
Worked from the top down, you can customize the length to meet your wardrobe desires. After making the two panels, you simply sew up the sides and top seams. Easy peasy!
Intimidated by all that lace? Never fear… there's a stitch chart included with the written pattern to help you visualize your stitches. Your hook will be flying along in no time!
Check out the gallery below then CLICK HERE to head on over to our shopping site and purchase your own digital copy today! Light and breezy for warmer temps or layered to keep off the chill… you'll look stunning and have TONS of bragging rights when you wear this piece and tell folks: Yup… I made this!
