Picture it… Columbus 2012. A rugged young designer and a dashing photographer meet with two intrepid owners of a line of yarn. They laugh; They plan; They drink a lot of wine. The result of that meeting appeared roughly one year later, in the form of a pattern book - Moonstruck: Ten Sensuous Knit Patterns Sized Small to 5X. Folks, I was that designer… Jason was that photographer… and the owners of the line of yarn were the FAB ladies from Mango Moon Yarns.
Yes, the 10 patterns from Moonstruck are now available as individual patterns (but you can still order the book too). We think this collection has the whole package going on, referring to our mantra of Fashion, Fit, Form, and Function. There is something to fit every woman’s style and shape. Chic, classic, and elegant designs with a timelessness that will make these knitwear pieces a staple in your wardrobe for years to come.
Below is a glimpse at each of the designs. Click on the link or the photo to go to the individual pattern pages where you can see more photos and all the details about creating your own Moonstruck masterpiece.

I designed each piece with the thought of creating garments that folks would reach for whenever they wanted something a little special to wear for work, running errands, or a weekend excursion… true wardrobe staples with the versatility to fit a variety of fashion functions.
Proud of your curves? Show 'em off! Each pattern is sized from Small to 5X and tested to fit properly. In fact some of the models we used for these patterns were 2X and 4X sized women. We wanted you to know that what we were designing would indeed fit on your body.
Wanna talk easy?
Now, I know this could be rowing into dangerous waters but… here goes. We are not fans of the overused, flippant, and, frankly, bothersome use of the label "quick and easy"… this is not boxed mac and cheese… ugh… don't get me started. Who am I kidding… too late…
Steps up on soapbox.
Tagging every single pattern, recipe, and DIY project with "quick and easy" has created a false sense of value that dilutes the whole idea of handiwork and handcraft.
Trust me… I like instant gratification as much as the next person. But does everything have to have the designation "quick and easy" attached to it for us to even give it a second look? Craftsmanship, attention to detail, and quality… slow down a little and enjoy the process of making and creating.
Some things might be quick, some things might be easy, but not everything has to be quick and easy. Yes, more skilled and practiced hands do move more quickly through the creation process but, mostly, quality comes from careful craftsmanship that sometimes takes more than a quick stitch and whip.
Steps off soapbox… for now…
That said, there are a few designs here that can be called easy patterns to work up and, with more skilled and practiced hands, could even be a quick pattern to work up as well. We designed each of these garments in a way that first-time garment makers and those with more experience at making garments could both enjoy making them. If all you know how to do is cast on, knit, and purl, all you need to do is learn a three-needle bind off (instructions are included in each pattern) and you can make your first garment! Experienced garment makers will appreciate the simple elegance of some of these items, like Deva or Elara, and will be able to turn out one of these cute numbers, showing it off in no time.
Want to work up one of these patterns but aren’t sure if you're ready? We’ve got you covered! We include instructions for increasing, decreasing, gauge, blocking, and general shaping in every pattern. With stitch guides and charts included, all you need to do is work up the swatch and practice the stitch pattern until you are confident you can finish the piece.
Each of these patterns is now available through our pattern store as individual digital downloads. Go shopping, buy a pattern (or two… or five), and be sure to share your finished object with us! We love seeing what y'all are up to.
